Applications Engineer – Market Specialist
The Applications Engineer will participate in the sales process of our optical design and analysis software programs, TracePro and OSLO, through communication with prospective customers and demonstration of the software. The individual will report to the Director of Sales, and be responsible for meeting sales goals. The application engineer must have sufficient engineering knowledge and skill to understand customers' design and analysis problems and demonstrate how our software can solve these problems, often "on the fly." Responsibilities - Achieve revenue goals through consultative selling of Lambda’s optical design software tools and services
- Travel to trade shows and customer sites to demonstrate software , and perform software demos remotely over the web
- Prepare application notes and other documentation demonstrating the use of Lambda software
- Work with Product Marketing to gather input from customers for the purpose of defining customer requirements for products
- Work with Director of Sales to develop, establish, and direct distribution strategies and within his/her market segment
- Work with Director of Sales to develop and execute lead programs
- Develop proposals, including terms and conditions, for high-profile customers and channel partners
Requirements - B.S. Engineering in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Physics; M.S., Ph.D., M.B.A. plus
- Five years experience in sales or applications engineering in the illumination/optics/photonics market
- Two years experience using optical engineering/illumination software, preferably TracePro and/or OSLO
- Outstanding consultative selling abilities and excellent interpersonal skills building relationships with engineers and research scientists
- Established contacts and relationships with potential customers and channel partners in his/her market segment
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a results-driven, team oriented environment
- Evangelical ability with new products or new market environment
- Capacity to assume more significant management experience over time
- Ability to travel 35%
